Sukano, the leading manufacturer of specialty masterbatches and compounds, headquartered in Schindellegi, Switzerland, officially opens the company's new production facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in March 2009. Last year an 8,200 m2 manufacturing site was established in the industrial zone Kawasan Perindustrian Jalan Hasil. The facility on this site includes a 2,700 m2 of production area, 17,000 m3 of warehousing space and 600 m2 of office space. With this investment in Malaysia Sukano is significantly strengthening its market position in the Far East, and on which it will continue to build. Clients of the Asia-Pacific region and the Far East were previously supplied from Sukano in Switzerland. They will now be supplied from Johor Bahru, including those clients in Australia and New Zealand. This investment is an important step in the Far Eastern market for Sukano, comments the CEO Paul Steinauer. With the opening of a new facility in the heart of South-East Asia our customers in the region will benefit particularly from shorter delivery times but also from their proximity to the Sukano facility. Thanks to the much shorter distances and an in-depth understanding of regional requirements, Sukano can react in a much more flexible and effective way. To enable us to offer this full service locally at a competitive cost, we will in the future be closely evaluating more and more Far Eastern sources of raw materials and obtaining alternative materials locally. The new plant produced its first kilogram in December 2008 and the official opening will be celebrated on March 6th 2009.
