A Family Business Thriving for Over 40 Years

Founded in 1981, SGT specializes in the production of PET preforms and has built a solid reputation in the food and beverage sector. Since its inception, the company has continually diversified and innovated to meet the ever-evolving needs of its clients. In 2019, SGT took a major step forward by launching SGR, a PET recycling facility that produces premium-quality rPET under the brand name CIRPET ®. This initiative ensures a reliable and consistent supply of sustainable raw materials for its customers. In 2023, SGT Group achieved a turnover exceeding €300 million. With a portfolio of nearly 400 clients across Europe and Africa, the group also operates four production sites in Algeria, focusing on PET preforms and HDPE caps. Now, at the start of 2025, SGT continues its strategic expansion with the acquisition of Axium Packaging.

A Strategic Acquisition Aligned with an Ambitious Vision

Founded in 1968 in Saint-Étienne, Axium Packaging has established itself as a leading expert in the injection and blow molding of bottles, jars, and caps. With six entities and 385 employees, the company achieved a turnover of €76 million in 2024. Axium serves primarily the food and beverage sectors, as well as the health, hygiene, beauty, and household products markets.

With production facilities in France, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Germany, this acquisition provides SGT Group with enhanced industrial capabilities and a broader technological offering, all while maintaining a shared commitment to eco-responsibility.

“This acquisition is perfectly in line with our growth strategy. By joining forces with Axium Packaging, we are enhancing our ability to offer innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that meet the current and future needs of our clients,” says Frédéric Mignot, President of SGT Group.

Strategic Synergies Driving Innovation

The acquisition of Axium Packaging grants SGT Group access to new expertise, particularly in injection and extrusion blow molding, while expanding its product portfolio. This strategic complementarity strengthens operational synergies, consolidates the group’s presence in the European market, and creates new opportunities in sectors such as cosmetics, hygiene, and beauty.

“Joining SGT Group is an exceptional opportunity for Axium Packaging. We share common values and a strong drive to innovate in response to growing demands for sustainability and quality,” emphasizes Yves Cury, President of Axium Packaging.

A Strong Commitment to Sustainability

In a context of increasing environmental and regulatory challenges, this alliance underscores SGT Group’s dedication to promoting rPET packaging solutions, thereby reducing its carbon footprint. Axium Packaging complements this vision with eco-designed products and a sustainability strategy aligned with international standards, such as ISO 26000 and SMETA.

A Promising Future

With this acquisition, SGT reaffirms its ambition to remain a key player in the plastic packaging industry, offering innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to clients’ needs. Together, SGT Group and Axium Packaging are opening a new chapter, driven by innovation, collaboration, and performance.
