Sesotec at Fakuma 2024: Intelligent technologies and services for an effective and profitable circular economy

Schönberg, Germany

Under the motto “Economy meets Ecology”, Sesotec will be demonstrating at Fakuma 2024 how intelligent technologies and sustainable management go hand in hand.

Sesotec will be presenting innovative solutions for an effective and profitable circular economy at the FAKUMA trade fair. As in 2023, the PRE-SORT sorting platform will be the centerpiece of the trade fair presentation. This combines the VARISORT COMPACT sorting system, dedusting units, material conveying and a central control system in one overall solution. The system components have been further optimized to achieve even more precise sorting results. With a modular design of sorter, dedusting and conveyor, the PRE-SORT platform offers easy access to the respective device components. In addition, a maintenance area has been implemented that allows direct access to each control of the individual components.

In addition to the PRE-SORT platform, Sesotec will also be presenting other proven systems, including the GF metal detector, the RE-SORT metal separation unit, the RAPID VARIO metal separator with rotating separation unit and the PROTECTOR metal separator for extruders, injection molding and blow molding machines, as well as the FLAKE SCAN material analysis system.

New functions for proven metal separators

Another highlight at the trade fair is the new “Monitoring Package” for PROTECTOR metal separators, which solves challenges such as fluctuating product quality, heterogeneous input material and confusing process parameters.

The Monitoring Package is an optional sensor unit that records parameters such as moisture, temperature and color fluctuations of the material passing through directly on injection molding machines and extruders. This enables deviations to be reported to higher-level systems, allowing processes to be adapted and the highest product quality to be ensured. The monitoring package enables rapid integration into the processing line, reduces plastic waste and ensures a constant melting point of the conveyed material. It also reduces the energy required for the melting process, which is environmentally friendly and increases profitability.

FLAKE SCAN analysis system with new features

Three new functions have been added to the FLAKE SCAN analysis system from Sesotec, which significantly increase efficiency and user-friendliness.

  1. Label printer for labeling the sample bags: A label printer can now be connected to facilitate direct assignment of the analysis results to the respective samples. This function can be used to print labels that can be attached directly to big bags or sample containers. This option can be retrofitted, which means that existing FLAKE SCAN systems can also benefit from this new function.
  2. Barcode scanner for simplified batch number entry: FLAKE SCAN now offers the option of connecting a barcode scanner via the system's USB ports for faster and error-free batch number entry. This reduces the effort required for manual input and minimizes the risk of input errors.
  3. Particle size distribution: The enhanced FLAKE SCAN software now enables precise flake size analysis. This function supports users in accurately determining the size distribution of the material, which is of great importance for optimizing the recycling process.

With these new features, the FLAKE SCAN analysis system offers even more precise and efficient analysis options and makes a significant contribution to optimized plastic sorting.

Dietmar Dieing, Vice President Sales Plast at Sesotec, emphasizes the importance of the FAKUMA trade fair: “Fakuma not only offers us an ideal platform to present our innovative technologies, but also to intensify the dialogue with customers and partners. The trade fair underlines the importance of progress and sustainability in the plastics industry. For us, Fakuma is more than just a trade fair - it is a showcase for the future of the entire plastics industry.”

Michael Perl, Group Director Sales Division Sorting Recycling, adds: “The plastics cycle has evolved from a concept to an essential part of the modern plastics industry. The right sorting technologies, ideally with the use of AI, are the key to unlocking the true value of plastic waste and turning it into high-quality, reusable materials.”
