Accoring to Atac citizens of Rome can now get a discount on public transport by recycling their PET plastic bottles.
Over the course of two weeks a promising 11,000 used bottles have been collected and recycled.
Travellers will receive a credit of five cents for each returned bottle (30 bottles = 1 standard ticket). These points can than be redeemed through the Apps myCicero and Tabnet.
A reverse vending machine has been installed in three different stations, which now will be tested out for one year.
In the case of success, the scheme will be expanded to other stations and public spots all over Rome.
