SIPA has recently presented its new PPS 48 preform production machine which has been fully manufactured at the SIPA factory in Hangzhou. |
One of the latest machines produced by SIPA Machinery Hangzhou (SMH) is the PPS 48, which is the first injection press with a horizontal structure designed by the Italian company. The injection machine is characterised by its flexibility, high productivity (up to 21,600 preforms/hour), easy maintenance, rapid size and mould changeover and compatibility with all moulds on the market.
The PPS 48 may be adapted to meet a wide range of production needs: from 16 cavity configurations for the production of heavy preforms (and containers up to 20 litres) to 48 cavity configurations for standard preforms and high production rates. It may also change from 30 mm to 48 mm diameter necks.
Just like the other PPS models, it is also fitted with the SIPA patented preform cooling system which guarantees permanence in the take-out plate for up to 6 injection cycles. It is therefore possible to reach very low temperatures (40°C for the neck and 20°C for the body), thereby preventing deformation and scratching of the preform.
This exclusive cooling system translates into low energy consumption and a format change which only requires 30 minutes whatever the number of cavities. It is sufficient to replace the complete plate by means of the four support bolts. The perfect mechanical interface is guaranteed by the presence of a single central key.
In the same way as all the SIPA presses, the PPS 48 is characterised by the particular cleanliness of the preforms. The cooling occurs merely by contact between the outer surface of the preform and the walls of the take-out plate.
No air cooling system is used and the extraction of the preforms from the robot cooler plate uses a mechanical system which acts on the preform support ring, avoiding any contact between the mechanical parts and the inner part.
