Georg Pescher, ALPLA Managing Director Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, has been elected as the new President of the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e.V., Bad Homburg. Georg Pescher has been committed to the interests of the plastics packaging industry in the IK for many years - particularly in the PET Beverage Bottles Forum.

He has been with the ALPLA Group for 15 years, initially as a plant manager for ten years and for almost five years as Managing Director for Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

As IK President, Georg Pescher is committed to a fair public perception of sustainable plastic packaging and to balanced regulation in the interests of climate protection and resource conservation.

''The same rules for all must be the order of the day if the European Packaging Regulation is to become a functioning part of the Green Deal and the EU Single Market. Facts must count,'' said Georg Pescher in his opening speech.

''The association and its 300 members can achieve a lot if they communicate actively, take a stand and, above all, open their doors to politicians, the media and the interested public. The plastics packaging industry is an important factor for Germany as a business location, and in my new role I want to help keep it that way.''

Georg Pescher replaces Roland Strassburger, who held the position for six years. The baton was handed over at the IK General Assembly in Frankfurt/Oberursel.

Vice-President Christian Claes (Profectus Films) and Treasurer Hans Bresele (allvac Folien) were re-elected for a further term of office. Dr Christoph Strubl was elected Vice-President for 2022.
