Leading European packaging specialists, APPE and Bericap, have launched a packaging solution aimed at the European electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) market for the reliable supply of e-liquids.

The plastic dropper bottles, which package liquid used to refill e-cigarettes, are a joint development between PET packaging specialist, APPE and caps and closures specialist, Bericap. The complete e-liquid solution (bottle, dropper and cap) was launched at the Innovaping Days exhibition, held in Paris on 23-24 March 2015.

With the majority of e-liquid bottles and closures currently imported from the Far East, the e-cigarette market is witnessing poor quality, usually in the form of leaking packaging. Additionally, there has been a number of reported incidents of exposure to e-liquid due to the lack of child-proof caps.

APPE and Bericaps entry in to the fast-growing e-cigarette market will eliminate these concerns whilst additionally meeting supply and demand issues facing ecigarette manufacturers and distributors.

Until recently there has been no regulation on e-cigarettes, however, a revision to the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), in May 2014, introduced a clause to regulate e-cigarettes. This aims to benefit consumers by improving the safety and quality requirements for products in the EU. All member states have until May 2016 to comply with the revised legislation.

APPE and Bericaps packaging solution is the hassle free way to ensure full compliance. The leak free bottles are supplied in the regulated 10ml size, have a child-resistant closure system meeting ISO 8317:2003 standard and a unique tamper-evidence mechanism. The ergonomically designed, highly tactile cap has an embossed warning for people with visual impairments. The warning consists of a raised equilateral triangle as specified by BS EN ISO 11683:1997 (Tactile warnings of danger requirements) and also meets the revised TPD.

With an incorporated UV light barrier to protect the e-liquid, the strong yet pliable bottle is perfect for controlled refilling of any type of e-cigarette. The resealable bottle and cap solution are available in a range of colours. The bottle can be transparent, opaque, clear or coloured with the additional ability to emboss the cap element of the solution for brand differentiation.

Manufacturers and distributors of e-cigarettes will benefit from improved wholesale capabilities, short delivery lead times, no customs issues and an incountry sales teams to support this soon to be regulated and rapidly expanding market. This e-liquid packaging solution is designed and manufactured with safety, reliability and compliance in mind, a packaging you can trust.
