Constar, Inc. a leading producer of PET containers in the United States and Europe, announces the issuance this year of US and international patents related to its Diamond Clear Oxygen Scavenging Technology for PET Packaging.
Constar’s Diamond Clear technology is blended into PET resin used to make containers for oxygen-sensitive products. Common beverage products that are oxygen sensitive include juices, teas, beer, wine, vitamin-enhanced products, and many other popular beverages especially those in single-serve presentations. Many foods are also sensitive to oxygen such as tomato-based products like pasta sauces, salsa, and ketchup.
Constar first launched the Diamond Clear line in 2007 and has continued its development. That development has included the issuance of three food contact notifications from the US FDA. Diamond Clear is approved for all food types and for frozen storage through hot-filled conditions. The material is also approved for food contact by Health Canada and is commercial in Mexico and the Australasia region. Constar is currently seeking further food contact approvals throughout the world.
In addition to a full range of Diamond Clear bottles for custom, hot-fill, and wide-mouth applications, Constar will offer Diamond Clear preforms to customers that operate their own blow-molding machines, and aseptic fillers running integrated blow-fill lines, as well as to export markets world-wide. Additionally, Constar licenses the Diamond Clear material to converters and material vendors.
