At the drinktec, Krones and Micro Matic are premiering a simple, safe, and fresh solution for beer filling: BEVkeg – the all-inclusive system for the non-returnable PET beverage keg market, also incorporating the matching, gas-free BEVmate tapping equipment. This all-inclusive package is intended primarily for breweries at first, but in future will be aimed at the soft-drinks market as well.
Top beverage quality – from filling at the bottler all the way into the glass. This is an important aspect for breweries and all other drinks producers. At the same time, the intention is to cut their running costs, in terms of both deliveries of production materials and the product transportation itself. The next point is beverage tapping, where safety and hygiene aspects play a very important role. That’s quite a lot of requirements, for which now there’s a reliable and uncomplicated solution.
The system’s first core component is the 20-litre container made of PET, with a petaloid base. It is self-supporting, and doesn’t need any secondary packaging. It’s supplied together with a screw-cap, a human-engineered handle, and a disposable beverage line in a hygienic blisterpack. A variety of options are available for individualised labelling.
The second core component is the patented BEVmate tapping system, which operates with mechanical pressure. This principle is as simple as it is safe. When it’s emptied, the container rolls itself up inwards. This results in high beverage quality without any tapping losses.
KIC Krones is the central customer interface for supplying the 20-litre container unit. Depending on the rating class involved, the container is transported to the filling company either as a preform or as a compressed unit. The closure, handle and disposable beverage line components are supplied with it. The brewery or the filling company fills and labels the containers, and loads them onto pallets. The machinery and technology required is supplied by Krones whereas the BEVmate tapping system is delivered to the brewery or the catering facility by the Micro Matic specialists.
